Building the Simple Future in Italian

The futuro semplice (simple future) in Italian is used to describe future actions.
However, the present tense can also be used for the immediate future, especially in spoken language.

The simple future is formed by removing the last vowel from the infinitive of the verb and replacing it with the corresponding endings.

Verbs ending in “-are” are an exception.
Here, the “-a” ending is replaced by an “-e”.

💬 Examples:
aspetterò – I will wait
scriveremo – we will write
partiranno – they will leave
Viaggerò in Italia l'anno prossimo. – I will travel to Italy next year.
Loro verranno alla riunione? – Will they come to the meeting?
