The Negation in Italian Sentences

In Italian, we use the word “non” (no, not) to negate a sentence.

💬 Examples:
Parlo inglese. – I speak English.
Non parlo italiano. – I do not speak Italian.
Non capisco. – I don’t understand.

⚠ Please, note that “non” is placed in front of the Italian verb.
In English the word “not” is used after an auxiliary verb to form the negation.

💬 Examples:
Non voglio andare. – I don’t want to go.
Non abbiamo tempo. – We don’t have time.
