Different Types of Italian Adverbs

Adverbs in Italian are generally classified based on the information they convey.
Let’s take a look at some of these different types of adverbs.

Avverbi di modo – adverbs of manner

These describe how an action is performed. They are often formed by adding “-mente” to the feminine form of an adjective.

💬 Examples:
🇮🇹 rapido → rapidamente
🇬🇧 fast → quickly
🇮🇹 facile → facilmente
🇬🇧 easy → easily

Avverbi di tempo – adverbs of time

Adverbs of time tell when an action takes place.

💬 Example:
Radesso – now
ieri – yesterday
domani – tomorrow
spesso – often

Avverbi di luogo – adverbs of place

Adverbs of place specify where an action occurs.

💬 Example:
qui – here
là – there
dentro – inside
fuori – outside

Avverbi di quantità – adverbs of quantity

Adverbs of quantity indicate how much or to what extent something happens.

💬 Example:
molto – a lot
poco – a little
abbastanza – enough
troppo – too much
quasi – almost
