The Bosnian language

Bosnian is part of the language family of Slavic languages.

More than 300 million people worldwide speak a Slavic language as their mother tongue.
Up to the breakup of former Yugoslavia, Bosnian was one part of the “Serbo-Croatian language”. Often speakers of different Slavic languages can (more or less) understand each other. Until now speakers of Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian can easily communicate with each other in their native languages – and understand each other without greater problems.
Of course, from time to time one of them would need to clarify some specific vocabulary.
But, if you start out learning Bosnian, you will have no difficulties in diving into Croatian or Serbian afterwards ,and you will be able to fluently communicate in all of the three countries.
