Rules of thumb:

How will I recognize a Bosnian noun's gender?

• Masculine nouns often end in a consonant.
  Example:
  poljubac (m) – kiss
  momak (m) – man
 

• Feminine nouns usually end in -a.
  Example:
  knjiga (f) – book
  žena (f) – woman
 

• Neuter nouns normally end in -e or -o.
  Example:
  dijete (n) – child
  meso (n) – meat

Please note:
There are numerous exceptions to the above mentioned rules.
You will be on the safe side if you memorise the Bosnian noun's gender from the very beginning of your learning process.
